ASSESSMENT OF THE LODGE SCHOOL

 HARDWARE

The current computer-to-student and teacher ratio at The Lodge School is 1:5. There are four laboratories, only two of which are outfitted with 25 systems each, four staff points, a Human and Ecology block, and other areas for teachers to be evaluated.

To facilitate learning, teachers and students have access to projectors, smart boards, printers, photocopiers, and risograph machines.

SOFTWARE

The selection of software to be used is mostly made through an evaluation procedure, but mainly for the office suite that staff members are currently using.

INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

The average wired internet connection has a speed of 200 Mbps. Both FLOW, which has two connections and Digicel, which is in the test phase, provide services to the school.

STORAGE AND DEVICES

At the request of their teachers, students are only permitted to bring their devices to school with permission from the office, and in this case, both the office and the ITC must have access to the devices.

CURRENT CHALLENGES

The main problems identified include the fact that there are currently only two computer laboratories in operation
and there is a high demand for these spaces, which has an influence on subject scheduling and the capacity to
accept more students. Additionally, there is a pressing need for reliable internet connectivity, particularly given that
students must now take the Caribbean Examinations Council's paper 1 exams online. The operation of the office
is also impacted by this unquenchable connection.

Major improvements cannot be implemented because of budgetary restrictions, which are a significant barrier.
